The first time I heard my daughter say to me, "You're not the boss of me!" I laughed. Which, of course, was not her goal and sent her into more of a fit. I quietly reminded her, 'Yes Honey. Yes I am.' Isn't being a parent fun?!?
As a parent I'm always looking for resources that will help me understand my "job" a little better. I want to have tools that will guide my children in a positive direction which, I hope, will make life easier for all involved and create wonderful human beings in the process.
My latest find is the book "You're Not The Boss Of Me: Brat Proofing Your 4 to 12 Year Old Child" by Betsy Brown Braun. She hits the major points of child behavior, and instructs on how to avoid what could be a stressful situation to a scene of respect and positive learning experiences.
There is humor in her writing which draws me in immediately. Parenting can be a tough road and laughter is the best way to release stress, yelling just makes everyone feel bad in the end.
If you would like to purchase "You're Not The Boss Of Me: Brat Proofing Your 4 to 12 Year Old Child" by Betsy Brown Braun, this book is available through Amazon.com and other booksellers.
